The Beginning (1961s)
The roots of Elaiyavar Sadugudu Club trace back to the early 1960s in the village of Ariyagoundampatti, Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu. Founded by a group of passionate local youths, the club was born out of a deep-rooted love for Sadugudu (Kabaddi)—the traditional sport of the soil. What started as a small local gathering of players soon evolved into a symbol of village pride and athletic excellence.
The Tradition of the Temple Festival
For over six decades, the club has been inextricably linked with the Sri Mariamman Temple Festival. Every year, during the month of May (Chithirai/Vaikasi), the dusty grounds of Ariyagoundampatti transform into a battlefield of skill and strength. The club began organizing state-level tournaments that attracted the finest talent from across Tamil Nadu.
